On the Ground: Our Director & Founder at the Maitland Community Disability Expo

Some of the most valuable work we do happens outside of participants' homes, in the rooms where support coordinators, allied health teams, councils, and service providers come together to build a stronger, more connected service system.

On August 5th, our Director and Founder, Matthew Rasheed, joined the Maitland Community Disability Expo as a stallholder, spending the day networking, listening, and sharing how Residence Revival fits into the broader web of support available to NDIS and aged-care participants across NSW.

A Well-Run, Community-First Event

The expo brought together over 24 stallholders and an expected 200+ attendees from more than 430 registrations, with organisers building in a dedicated "quiet hour" so attendees who needed less stimulation could still engage comfortably. It's the kind of thoughtful, accessibility-first planning that reflects the values we try to bring to every home we work in.

Libraries as an Overlooked Lifeline

One of the standout conversations of the day came from local library and council representatives, who highlighted just how much modern libraries offer beyond books: free e-books and e-magazines, pre-packed book club kits, and audio resources that let people stay engaged and independent from home. With ongoing pressure on community access funding, libraries are increasingly stepping in as a low-cost, high-value community touchpoint, something we're glad to see and happy to point participants toward.

Sharing What We Do, and Why It Matters

Throughout the day, our Founder and Director, Matt, had the chance to explain Residence Revival's role as a specialised, non-clinical partner to the clinical teams already supporting participants, including occupational therapists, positive behaviour specialists, recovery coaches, and psychologists. We spoke about our two service arms: our emergency forensic response team, able to reach far-flung areas of NSW within 48 hours, and our decluttering and trauma-informed cleaning team, servicing the Hunter, Newcastle, Central Coast, Sydney, Wollongong, and Southern Highlands.

A recurring theme in these conversations was collaboration. Support coordinators and recovery coaches consistently told us how much smoother things run when environmental support is brought in early, before a situation escalates to eviction or hospitalisation, rather than as a last resort. We also connected with plan managers to talk through realistic funding pathways, and with several TAFE students studying Individual Support and disability, some of whom are exploring subcontracting opportunities with our regional teams.

Real Conversations, Real Impact

Beyond the networking, the day included direct conversations with participants and families, including someone facing an urgent housing move who is following up with their support coordinator, and a family enquiring about a private, self-funded deceased estate clean. Every conversation was a reminder of why we do this work: the practical, sometimes unglamorous support that helps people stay safely and independently in their homes.

Looking Ahead: DSC Annual NDIS Conference 2026 | August 2026 Week 2 Capacity Update

The sector's spotlight this week is on the DSC Annual NDIS Conference 2026, running August 12–13 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and online, bringing together sector leaders, providers, and the ideas shaping the future of disability support and NDIS reforms across Australia.

At Residence Revival, conversations like these matter to us. As the sector continues to evolve, we stay closely connected to what's shaping the future of disability support, so our services remain aligned with best practice and participants continue to receive support that reflects the latest thinking in the space.

Whether or not you're able to attend in Brisbane or tune in online, it's a timely reminder of how connected our sector is, and how collaboration between providers, coordinators, and participants keeps driving better outcomes across NSW and beyond.

🧹 Regular Cleaning, Laundry, and Gardening

Residence Revival continues to deliver professional NSW cleaning services, including regular domestic cleaning, laundry assistance, and light gardening across New South Wales. Services are available on weekly, fortnightly, or monthly schedules to help participants maintain clean, safe, and functional living environments.

We currently have high availability for regular domestic services in Southwest Sydney, Inner West Sydney, Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands, Wollongong / Illawarra, and Wagga Wagga, where our teams have the greatest capacity to onboard new participants for ongoing scheduled services.

We also have moderate availability across Greater Sydney, Inner West Sydney, and Blacktown & Parramatta. Participants in these regions can still access services, with scheduling arranged based on current team capacity and service routing.

🏠 Decluttering, Deep, and Forensic Cleaning

Residence Revival provides intensive environmental supports for participants requiring decluttering, deep cleaning, hoarding recovery, and specialised property restoration services. These supports are often required where living environments present health risks, severe clutter, sanitation concerns, or tenancy risks.

We currently have high availability for decluttering, deep cleaning, and forensic cleaning services in North West Sydney, Inner West Sydney, Inner West Sydney, Blacktown & Parramatta, Newcastle & Hunter, and Wagga Wagga. These regions presently allow for faster onboarding and more flexible scheduling for participants requiring intensive environmental support services.
